Okura Garden Hotel Shanghai is one of the members of The Okura Group, whose corporate philosophy is “Best A.C.S. — Best Accommodation, Best Cuisine and Best Service.” Thoughtful services and pursuit of excellence represent the symbolic core competitiveness of Okura Garden Hotel Shanghai and the Okura brand.

The Okura Garden Hotel is ideally situated in Shanghai’s prestigious shopping and business district at the center of the city. Originally the site of the French Club, which was completed in 1926, the 33-story hotel combines contemporary design with the elegance of the former club. With a private 30,000-squaremeter garden, the entire facility radiates a rich culture, while paying homage to the past. The 10 sophisticated function rooms are the perfect settings for meetings, conferences or banquets, the 492 well-equipped guest rooms offer an immediate sense of relaxation, and personalized attention exemplifies the hotel’s five-star rating.

Recognized as a piece of the city’s cultural heritage, the building is protected by the Shanghai government. Looking back on its history offers insight into the valuable memories of the past. Thanks to its origins, it showcases the most popular and fashionable styles from the 1920s and ’30s. The building was used by the U.S. Army and later, an indoor swimming pool was built at the site of the current Cocktail Lounge Oasis in the 1940s.

After the establishment of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, it changed its name to the People’s Culture Palace with the garden used as a sports field. From the end of 1970s, the building was renamed the Jing Jiang Club. In 1985, a renovation project began to create the Okura Garden Hotel Shanghai with the cooperation of the Shanghai government and with 100 percent investment by Nomura China Investment Co. On March 20, 1990, the Okura Garden Hotel Shanghai opened under a 30- year lease. The new tower with its elegant guestroom facilities successfully merges with the old building and incorporates the hotel lobby, Coffee Shop Rose, Cocktail Lounge Oasis, function rooms and business center.

Over the years, the hotel has welcomed countless official state visitors, distinguished guests and business leaders and gained a reputation as a trustworthy hotel where guests feel welcome and are served with respect and dignity. Hotel employees are well versed in several languages and many speak Japanese and English. The hotel has been a center of the Japanese business community and many Japanese companies were introduced to the art of doing business in China while they stayed in the hotel.

We thank all our guests for their patronage at Okura Garden Hotel Shanghai. As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, all of us at Okura are looking forward to welcoming guests for many years to come as we continue to provide them with our Best A.C.S. in China.

The Polish National Opera: Presenting Polish culture to the world https://www.synergymediaspecialists.com/the-polish-national-opera-presenting-polish-culture-to-the-world/ https://www.synergymediaspecialists.com/the-polish-national-opera-presenting-polish-culture-to-the-world/#comments Fri, 09 Nov 2018 06:24:29 +0000 https://www.synergymediaspecialists.com/?p=8178
“The Polish National Opera is considered one of the best in the world,” said Waldemar Dąbrowski, director of Teatr Wielki (Polish National Opera) and former minister of culture. “We are proud of our collaborations with leading international opera houses and of our passion to present classical performances and contemporary pieces.”

The Polish National Opera at Teatr Wielki, Warsaw, has been producing works by renowned Polish composers, including Fryderyk Chopin, for over 200 years now.

“Just as Japanese culture has inspired the European arts, many Japanese tourists come to our performances to discover and experience the European and wider international repertoire,” explained Dąbrowski.

Twice a decade, the theater hosts the prestigious International Chopin Piano Competition, where many outstanding pianists from Japan have won awards. The Opera’s ballet company currently has five Japanese dancers, including the principal dancer Yuka Ebihara.

Based on the works of the 15th century Noh play-master Zeami, “Matsukaze” is an opera by Japanese composer Toshio Hosokawa that proved to be one of the theater’s most successful productions last year.

Teatr Wielki is proud to be involved in the celebrations marking Poland’s 100 years of independence. Productions include “Notre Chopin,” a two-part ballet program, and “Manru,” an opera written by the renowned Polish pianist and a great champion of Polish independence, Ignacy Jan Paderewski.

This December, the Polish National Opera will put on “King Roger” by Karol Szymanowski. Conducted by Kazushi Ono, the coproduction will also travel to Tokyo, Japan.

“Next year, we will celebrate the bicentennial of Stanisław Moniuszko, the father of Polish opera who, like Chopin, is one of the most important Polish romantic artists,” said Dąbrowski.

“We invite the world to experience our productions and enjoy Poland’s rich, national heritage and culture, and to share in our country’s appreciation for the arts.”

Yasuragi – A Japanese spa hotel in a Nordic setting https://www.synergymediaspecialists.com/yasuragi-a-japanese-spa-hotel-in-a-nordic-setting/ https://www.synergymediaspecialists.com/yasuragi-a-japanese-spa-hotel-in-a-nordic-setting/#comments Wed, 11 Jul 2018 04:26:15 +0000 https://www.synergymediaspecialists.com/?p=7392
Only 20 minutes outside Stockholm, Sweden, you will find a place where Japanese culture has made an imprint in the Nordic mind. This is no ordinary spa hotel. The building was designed by renowned Japanese architect Yoji Kasajima in the 1970´s as a school for the Swedish Trade Union. Inspired by Kasajima´s aesthetics, over twenty years ago the decision was made to transform the school into a Japanese onsen. This proved to be a great success and Swedes rushed to experience ‘Yasuragi’, the name given to this new spa experience.
Superior Room with Futon Matresses
Owned and operated since 2006 by Nordic Choice Hotels, Yasuragi today has a strong position on the Nordic spa and conference scene.

The company invested a significant amount of capital in creating a whole new Japanese bathhouse. The new architecture is a modern, asymmetric version of a Japanese emperor’s courtyard, with a large pool at its architectural heart. Here you can bask in the warmth of the indoor and outdoor Japanese hot spring baths, pamper yourself with soothing spa treatments and enjoy relaxing activities.

The spa includes a Kyoto-inspired pool

The hotel offers 191 guest rooms, all with a view of the sea and simple aesthetics based on traditional Japanese design. In addition you will find a conference facility with twenty three meeting rooms, the largest of which can hold up to four hundred participants. Food plays an important part of every guests stay at Yasuragi and there are three different restaurants; vegan, à la carte and teppanyaki. Water and pine trees surround Yasuragi and guests can even enjoy a stroll around the Japanese garden.

Yasuragi is operated with passion by a company that contributes to a more sustainable world on every level. Staff promise guests a place where they can unwind, rediscover their innate energy and go home with renewed strength. CEO, Mrs Sunniva Fallan Rod has a strong belief that people who have more energy and are in touch with their inner-selves are more likely to make better decisions and do good deeds. Helping people unwind and relax is an important and powerful tool for creating a more sustainable and peaceful world.
