Since 1915, Yokogawa has supported customers by delivering innovation-driven solutions.

As a global leader in industrial automation and test and measurement solutions, the company has established a strong presence across Europe.

Ján Veselý, country manager for the Czech Republic and Slovakia started with a team of only two people in 2004 (the company started in 1994). The year 2011 saw the opening of a branch office in the Czech Republic and on July 31 this year, Yokogawa Czech Republic s.r.o. was registered as a fully-owned Czech entity headquartered in the city of Brno, an important center of engineering excellence in the region. The firm also maintains offices in Ostrava and Prague in the Czech Republic and Bratislava in Slovakia.

“We work closely with customers and partners, especially across key markets like Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States region and Iraq to support the optimization of refineries, chemical and fertilizer plants,” said Veselý.

In terms of its sales team’s capabilities, the company is shifting focus from simply selling products to delivering complete service, maintenance and support solutions.

“Aligning with the country’s economic growth and industrial evolution, we are driven to provide end-to-end solutions for Japanese and multinational manufacturing companies in the Czech Republic,” said Jaroslav Sucháň, sales manager for the country.

CombustionONE is one example of an integrated solution for combustion-based processes which Yokogawa recently introduced to address the demands of the refining, chemical, specialty chemical, power, metals and pulp and paper markets where combustion control and management play an important role.

Sucháň also sees a great opportunity to help companies in the region facing a shortage of skilled labor through automation.

Yokogawa is looking for more talented engineers to grow with them and has partnered with Brno University of Technology and the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava.

“We are well positioned for future growth,” concluded Veselý. “Our competitive advantages are our flexibility in meeting our customer’s needs and the trust we have built with them through the years.”

“Industry 4.0” refers to the industry trend of automation and data exchange seen across manufacturing technologies.

From its headquarters in a natural reserve at the foot of Mount Fuji in Japan, Fanuc Corp. has been pioneering manufacturing and factory automation solutions since 1956.

The company develops industrial robots, computer numerical control (CNC) systems and industrial machines. Fanuc delivers solutions to support the growth of general industry via 263 global service stations.

As investors look to expand operations in Hungary, challenges surrounding workforce retention, production capacity and wage costs are being met through the implementation of “Industry 4.0” solutions like FANUC FIELD and ZDT.

“Our operations in Hungary have seen double-digit growth on a yearly basis since we established Fanuc Hungary 12 years ago,” says General Manager Tamás Mezei.

“Industries including automotive, food and beverage and pharmaceuticals are looking to implement automated solutions and are seeking higher-quality production opportunities provided by industrial robotics.”

The International Federation of Robotics forecasts that by 2020, more than 1.7 million industrial robots will be installed in factories worldwide. Fanuc itself has already installed 550,000 industrial robots globally.

Established over twenty years ago, TRI-R Allied Industries, Inc. is continuing to unite the best of Japanese and Filipino business culture.

As a local company providing quality automotive and motorcycle parts, TRI-R exemplifies the potential found throughout the Philippines’ manufacturing sector.

As a proudly Filipino company, TRI-R works closely with leading Japanese automotive players and president and founder Melchor A. Rivera continues to strengthen the company’s partnerships.

“Our relationships with our clients are based on trust”, says Rivera. “Prior to TRI-R, I worked with a large Japanese manufacturing company and quickly understood the importance of discipline and the need to pay attention to detail; qualities which I have instilled in our workforce today.

Filipinos are blessed with creativity and innovation we want to ensure our people to use these skills to deliver high-quality products and services to our customers.”

A prime example of Rivera’s commitment to adopting Japanese qualities is the name chosen for Chorakawa Inc., a daughter company of TRI-R.

“Chorakawa was coined by a Japanese friend of mine; Melchor(Chor), my middle initial (A) and my surname, which translates to Kawa in Japanese, meaning ‘river’”, explains Rivera.

Commitment to quality and environmental responsibility, TRI-R became one of the first Filipino companies to be awarded 1SO 9001 Quality Management System in 2000 and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System in 2006. Already compliant with the automotive industry specific TS 16949 standard, TRI-R aims to comply with the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) standard.

TRI-R is poised to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the Philippine government’s Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) Program which is stimulating the country’s automotive sector.

“The future looks promising for TRI-R and Chorakawa Inc.”, says Melchor. “We are committed to our people and our customers and we will continue to innovate and deliver our solutions to customers within the industry”.

Since its establishment in 1994, PT Yokogawa Indonesia has proudly contributed to Indonesian society through technology transfer and co-innovation in the areas of engineering, measurement, control and automation.

“Yokogawa’s strength in Indonesia is the reliable local support we provide to our users,” said Sudarto Ramli, technical director of Yokogawa Indonesia. “The oil and gas industries are our main contributors. Major projects from these sectors have provided perfect battlegrounds for local capability development over the last 24 years.”

Yokogawa is one of the leading automation providers in the liquefied Natural Gas(LNG) industry. In Indonesia, Yokogawa’s business has grown since 2016 as a result of its involvement as an automation system supplier to the LNG industry.

Yokogawa Indonesia was chosen as a host for the Yokogawa Users Conference for Asia Pacific that was held in Bandung in February. The event brought together industrial experts from across the region to discuss solutions, introduce new innovations and share the best practices designed to enhance plant processes and operations.

In his opening speech, Takashi Nishijima, president and CEO of Yokogawa Electric Corp., announced the company’s new Synaptic Business Automation concept. Nishi jima reaffirmed the company’s commitment to developing the latest information technologies to help its customers transform and optimize their businesses.

“We treat our customers like partners and gain their trust by understanding their needs and training their people,” said Rei Asao, president director of PT Yokogawa Indonesia.

“When customers better understand our capability and advice on how we can support their needs, they’ll be able to create sustainable systems for better production,” said Ramli.

In 2015, Indonesia’s Ministry of Public Works and Housing signed a memorandum of understanding with Yokogawa Indonesia that focused on cooperation in human resource capabilities in the water supply sector. Centers of Excellence have been established in Bali and Kota Malang in conjunction with the memorandum to serve as exemplars of operationally efficient automated systems. The partnership is essential for achieving the Indonesian government’s target of delivering 100 percent safe water access by 2019.

“In our efforts to co-create a brighter future for Indonesia, we have collaborated with several universities and polytechnic schools,” explained Fatmadian Darman, director of corporate planning and administration at Yokogawa.

“We hold workshops to share practical industrial applications aimed at helping students further their studies.”

“In the coming years, we hope to win more public utility projects and diversify our portfolio to include more petrochemical and oleo-chemical business partners,” concluded Asao.
