This year, Makino Asia Pte. Ltd. celebrates 45 years in Singapore as the Asian headquarters of Makino Milling Machine Co. Ltd.

The company employs over 500 people in manufacturing, research and development, and engineering in Singapore. Makino Asia’s operations span China, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines, while exports extend to the Americas and Europe.

“As a global leader in high-speed, high-efficiency machining, our successes in recent years have been achieved through our focus on China and India,” said Chief Executive Officer Neo Eng Chong. “To meet the increasing demand for our solutions, we expanded our Singapore facilities and built our smart factory.”

The company’s smart factory is a state-of-the-art facility founded on the power of automation. Across its production lines, Makino Asia has incorporated “internet of things” solutions to streamline supply chain data collection and dramatically improve energy management, thus increasing efficiency and reducing environmental impact.

By 2019, the facility will be equipped with automation and data exchange solutions, commonly referred to as Industry 4.0.

“While increasing labor costs have caused Singapore’s manufacturing industry to move to neighboring countries, we are investing in our Singapore facilities,” said Neo.

“We believe this is the right time to transit into the new industrial age to better control information, timeliness and improve production quality,” he said. “In line with the changes taking place within our industry, we will benefit from the abundance of skilled engineers and technicians that Singapore has to offer.”

Makino Asia also has plans to transform production facilities in India and China into smart factories. The company intends to continue to invest in research and development and to increase its existing team of 100 engineers.

“With the emergence of high-tech industries such as aerospace and electric vehicle production, we need to continuously innovate to stay one step ahead of our competitors,” said Neo.

“We are driven to improve our capabilities, create new processes and equipment and generate new business lines to stay ahead of the competition. We work very closely with our Japanese counterparts and look forward to strengthening Makino Asia’s reputation across the region.”

Fanuc: Supporting Hungary’s industrial growth https://www.synergymediaspecialists.com/fanuc-supporting-hungarys-industrial-growth/ https://www.synergymediaspecialists.com/fanuc-supporting-hungarys-industrial-growth/#comments Tue, 23 Oct 2018 13:11:48 +0000 https://www.synergymediaspecialists.com/?p=8116
“Industry 4.0” refers to the industry trend of automation and data exchange seen across manufacturing technologies.

From its headquarters in a natural reserve at the foot of Mount Fuji in Japan, Fanuc Corp. has been pioneering manufacturing and factory automation solutions since 1956.

The company develops industrial robots, computer numerical control (CNC) systems and industrial machines. Fanuc delivers solutions to support the growth of general industry via 263 global service stations.

As investors look to expand operations in Hungary, challenges surrounding workforce retention, production capacity and wage costs are being met through the implementation of “Industry 4.0” solutions like FANUC FIELD and ZDT.

“Our operations in Hungary have seen double-digit growth on a yearly basis since we established Fanuc Hungary 12 years ago,” says General Manager Tamás Mezei.

“Industries including automotive, food and beverage and pharmaceuticals are looking to implement automated solutions and are seeking higher-quality production opportunities provided by industrial robotics.”

The International Federation of Robotics forecasts that by 2020, more than 1.7 million industrial robots will be installed in factories worldwide. Fanuc itself has already installed 550,000 industrial robots globally.

Today, Fanuc supports automotive manufacturing companies in Hungary as they lead the shift toward “Industry 4.0.” The company has assisted local automotive original equipment manufacturers by installing over 2,500 robots on the production lines in different factories across the country.

“An increasing number of companies want to advance their operations and our automation solutions contribute to lower energy consumption, increased productivity and improvements in the quality of our clients’ finished products,” explained Mezei.

“We work in highly competitive and innovation-driven industries — all of which have a very bright future. It is my priority to continue to further develop our local team of experienced professionals and support our young, talented engineers here in Hungary.”

Yaskawa — showing commitment to their earliest foreign partnership https://www.synergymediaspecialists.com/yaskawa-showing-commitment-to-their-earliest-foreign-partnership/ https://www.synergymediaspecialists.com/yaskawa-showing-commitment-to-their-earliest-foreign-partnership/#comments Wed, 11 Jul 2018 04:24:55 +0000 https://www.synergymediaspecialists.com/?p=7353
European industrial leaders recognize the high quality, functionality and efficiency of the arc welding, spot welding and industrial robots produced by Japan-based Yaskawa.

The company recognized the importance of the Swedish market over 40 years ago when Sweden became the first country to import Yaskawa products.

By the early ’90s, Yaskawa acquired the full ownership of the Swedish company that first imported their products, establishing their first Yaskawa European headquarters.

In 2007, the German market accounted for half of the company’s European sales and the decision was made to move the head office to Germany.

“Since the establishment of our European head office in Germany, our sales in Sweden have continued to grow,” said Par Tornemo, chief executive officer of Yaskawa Nordic AB. “Our revenue has doubled since then and sales show no signs of slowing down.”

As the automotive industry evolves, Yaskawa is keeping one step ahead of the competition by introducing innovative products that work in synergy with new automotive industry technologies.

“While our machines are imported directly from Japan, they are heavily customized to meet the needs of our European clients,” said Tornemo.

“We are seeing our business grow through the development of our partnerships with clients working in the material-handling and spot welding industries. Our Motoman GP12 helps clients handle more medium-sized products and our HC10 collaborative robot features sensor detection technology that allows the robot to be used within close proximity to humans.”

In addition, the “i3-Mechatronics from Yaskawa” is the company’s answer to “big data”, allowing customers to take efficiency to the next level by utilizing system data collection and analysis. Yaskawa is also strengthening its partnerships across Europe in the areas of “drive, motions and control” (which now consist of 50 percent of Yaskawa’s business in Europe, Middle East and Africa) and software engineering as technological advances in automation continue to develop, resulting to what is now the Industry 4.0.

Yaskawa’s commitment to the Nordic region will be further strengthened in August this year with the opening of a newly completed 2,000-square-meter workshop and office to better serve existing customers and reach out to new clients across the region. Tornemo oversees the operations in the Nordics, Baltic States and Russia. In Finland alone, sales have grown 40 percent in the last two years under his leadership.

“To explore our presence in these countries is one of my highest priorities,” explained Tornemo. “You know that if you come to Yaskawa, you get high quality and good support.”
